Retrofits and Upgrades

Aeronaut cutters are designed to have a long working life. Many are still on the job after 15 - 20 years hard work, sometimes doing three shifts a day. Eventually, the moving parts on any machine get worn. Electronics become less reliable and computers and software become obsolete. That's where retrofits and upgrades some in.

Aeronaut support is dedicated to keeping cutters working well for as long as possible, servicing and maintaining mechanisms, upgrading computers and updating software to keep systems up to date and fully functional. Mechanical failures rarely stop a machine working for very long but old electronics and computers can cause problems which can't be fixed by a simple part replacement. This could be a computer failure where today's replacement won't run yesterday's software.

Aeronaut can upgrade the computer, software and motion controller on most middle-aged machines to bring these fully up to date including all the current software enhancements. New technology such as inkjet print heads and digitising can normally be added to increase capabilities and productivity.

On and older cutting system, where the mechanisms are worn and cables have been flexed every day for a decade or more, it's mostly best to look at a retrofit option.

Aeronaut retrofits put a brand new cutter onto an existing cutting table for a fraction of the cost of a complete new cutter and are the most cost effective way to get new machine performance and reliability from an old cutter.

On any cutting system, especially long and wide-span ones, the vacuum table is a significant investment. But unlike the cutter or the cutting surface, flatbed cutting tables don't wear out and vacuum pumps very rarely cause problems.

A full new cutter, control electronics, computer and software can be easily fitted to an existing cutting table and deliver the performance and reliability of a new machine. A full retrofit doesn't take long and cutting systems can be back at work in hours.

Upgrade Options

Adding some modern productive technology to an older Aeronaut cutter such as a speedy inkjet print head or pattern digitising is often possible, as is getting new computers and software. It's a process which varies a lot in complexity and cost, so if this is of interest, then give Aeronaut sales a call to look at the possibilities.

Full Retrofits

A full retrofit will give you new machine performance and reliability on an existing cutting table for a fraction of the cost of a complete replacement. Almost any Aeronaut cutter made in the last 25 years can be retrofitted with either a similar machine or something more versatile and productive.
