Cyclops Machine Vision System

Cyclops is a gantry mounted machine vision systems which lets the cutter operator see a detailed live view of exactly what's below the cutting head. Cyclops can be used for aligning;  patterns in the nesting queue are moved to align with what's on the cutting table. That's the efficient way of doing it.

Cyclops looks at an area of about 50 x 34mm - 2" x 1.3" - small enough to give excellent detail and accuracy. The camera can be moved by Tangent's on-screen joystick or it can be moved to a point by clicking somewhere on the camera image and the camera will recenter at that point.

Digitally Printed Material

Cyclops can be used when cutting digital printed materials. Registration marks are printed along with the design on the material. A file is imported into Tangent which contains the cut paths and registration marks. Normally this is an industry standard PDF file.

With Cyclops positioned over the first registration mark, Tangent will automatically move the camera to recognise the remaining marks and rotate and position the file's cut paths to fit the material on the table.

Digitising

Cyclops can function as a low-cost and very accurate digitiser. The camera is used to run around a template on the cutting table and clicks in the camera view form the digitised shape.

Unlike methods which use iPhones and uncalibrated cameras, Cyclops can give excellent results which can be checked by simply getting the cutter to move the camera around the profile.
